The new 2025/26 season for Barry Camera Club began on 12th September 2025

Visitors are welcome any Friday Evening the club is in session. Doors open between 19:00 and 19:15 ( 7pm to 7 :15), for a 7: 30 start.

We wish all our readers a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year for 2026.

The new year bring an opportunity to witness some great events at the club with some great presenters and their photographic images. Visitors are welcome to come along for 1or 2 evenings to check us out. Where we have renown presenters a small entry fee may apply on some occasions but not all as detailed below.

January 2026

January 9th : An Evening with Mali Davies A small entry fee may apply to non-members.

16th “Members Evening ” – an experiment with Zoom. Anne Phillips and Malcolm Downes

23rd – Members Evening – Theme to Be Announced

30th Club Competition – An OPEN competition (No Genre) – Judged by Mike Clatworthy

February 2026

6th Feb: Body Painting (AV) Dennis Russ

13th Feb – Days out With My Camera – Presented By Allan Pick

20th Natural History Competition – for the Dave Hunt Trophy – Judged by Julie Morgan

27th Alaska – was it worth it? – A presentation by Kev Robertson

March 2026

6th – A Zoom presentation By Mike Martin – titled “Nobody”

13th – This week we have a 3 way Battle with 2 other clubs – Rhiwbina and Gwynfa at Barry.

20th – an Internal competition Genre – Creative Images. Members submit 2 prints and 2 digital Creative images – A chance for members to be creative with their photography – weird and wonderful. The Judge is Gary Shinner

27th -A presentation By Nigel Thomas – “How to achieve the perfect print”

April

3rd – No meeting – no club night

10th – “My Photographic Journey” – A presentation by Gerald Henry

17th – INFRA-RED photography Demystified – Presented by Wayne John

24th – Fifty Years Of Photography – A presentation by our own Fred Davies a chance to pick up some hints and tips to improve your photograpy.

May

1st – Our Annual Competition and awards – as judged by Dennis Russ

8th – Annual Dinner for club members

15th – Sunset Shoot at Porthkeri – led by our own Neil latham

22nd – The event we have all been waiting for (LOL) The Annual General Meeting.

Here we appraise the work of the committee and members. We take stock of our finances and reflect on all the other activities and events throughout the past year. And finally we Elect or Reelect the club managers – our committee.

7th June – The only thing left now is the BIG EVENT of the Season – our very own Prestigious:- THE BARRIAN CUP –

This event forms part of the big photographic events of the year in the WFF (Welsh Photographic Federation) calendar and in ours. This years Judge is Trevor James

Clubs from all over Wales and the South West of England get together at the Millenium Hall Barry for a big photographic battle – The highlight of our year.

We will have a few Summer Field events and a SUMMER CHALLENG to make sure our members keep their hands in and help to hone their photographic skills.
